The company’s story begins with Robert Ayer, owner and founder of MDRN Contracting LLC. Robert started his construction career working in siding and decking before transitioning into the overhead door industry. During his time working for a larger company, he noticed a recurring issue: customers weren’t receiving the level of service, communication, or care they deserved. Determined to change that, he launched his own overhead door business built on transparency and a customer-first mindset.
For more than a decade, Robert installed and serviced overhead doors throughout the region. But his passion for building went beyond garage systems. He wanted to provide homeowners and property owners with a better construction experience—one grounded in honesty, craftsmanship, and respect for every client. After obtaining his general contractor’s license and working as a dealer for a major metal building supplier, he saw firsthand how expensive certain materials had become.
